[OOM] Eiattu - Private Office

Diplomatic receptions are highly necessary, especially for Eiattu. The planet spent years under the yoke of Imperial control, and now its neighbors are cautiously testing the mettle of its new princess and her husband. Plourr knows this.

Of course, the necessity doesn't stop them from being unbelievably dull.

You'd think an event that lasted this far into the night would at least be interesting. Sadly, however, it was not, and Plourr is now sitting in a (to be specific, Rial's) ground-floor private office, still in full royal regalia with her shoes kicked off. She has her bare feet up on the desk and a much-needed bottle of lum in hand.

"You're in it, getting drunk."

He's getting the facts straight.

"Drinking, not getting drunk." It is an important distinction.

"Why?"

Sitting down heavily in a chair.

[fighting_mad]

She shrugs, pulling her sash off over her head and setting it on the desk. "Seemed like the thing to do."

"You're really not into this, are you?"

[fighting_mad]

"The constant diplomatic receptions and doing nothing but playing perfect hostess? No."

[eiattu_pride]

He sighs.

"At least you're trying?"

[fighting_mad]

She's trying damn hard. "There's that." The rest of the lum goes down and she sets the bottle on the desk beside her feet.

He leans his head back.

"Got any more?"

[fighting_mad]

"It's lum," she says as she leans over and picks up a second bottle off the floor. "Not exactly the kind of stuff they usually serve in the palace." But she pushes it across the desk.

"Whatever."

Eyes it.

"I'm starting to think diplomacy isn't all it's cracked up to be."

[fighting_mad]

No shavit. she thinks, but she says, "How so?"

"It's hard, it's tiring, and it's boring."

Flatly.

[fighting_mad]

She sighs. "I still don't understand why they can't just send a 'hello, let's be friends' comm instead of a person who expects a 'proper' reception." Looking wryly at the bottle of lum: "It's not going to bite, you know."

"It might."

Shrugs.

"Want to take a vacation?"

[fighting_mad]

She snorts. "No, it won't.

"--What?"

[eiattu_pride]

"Run away."

Waves a hand vaguely.

"Somewhere nice. Sleep in all day. Go out at night."

[fighting_mad]

Plourr is looking at him like he's gone crazy.

[eiattu_pride]

"It'd be nice."

[fighting_mad]

"And then who is in charge if we go? Count Labaann? Another member of the Priamsta?" She's shaking her head even as she speaks.

[eiattu_pride]

"So you go."

Quietly.

"I'll be in charge."

[fighting_mad]

"I wouldn't want to leave you alone with all this shavit."

She shrugs lightly. "Besides, that doesn't sound like much of a vacation." Her mouth sets. "And I don't run away."

Much.

[eiattu_pride]

"Okay."

Smiles quietly, "I was just offering a way out."

[fighting_mad]

A tired smile at him in response and she sits back, running a hand through short hair. "I know. I appreciate it."

A little amused, she gestures a hand at the untouched lum. "Are you planning on drinking that anytime soon?"

"You can have it."

Sighs.
