[OOM] Eiattu - Royal Apartments

The night started out well enough.

Plourr mingled, and everything felt easier, somehow, than it had the last time she had been called on to host a state function. It felt-- less forced. She even had a halfway civil (if short) conversation with her mother-in-law, and most of the dignitaries whom she had to speak to were interesting and--

then her head of security pulled her aside and told her that Princess Leia Organa and Lieutenant Tycho Celchu had been kidnapped.

Kidnapped. From her world, her palace.

Fel, of all people, gets the information out of the traitor, Count Laabann. Moff Tavira has them. Plourr wants to go after them with the royal navy, with her people; she nearly does (because it's her planet, her guest, her friend). But Han Solo stops her in her tracks; points out that she's hosting this whole deal. She can't up and leave leave.

So in the end, Plourr has Laabann thrown into a cell and she goes back to the kriffing party.



It's hours later that she's curled up at one end of the sofa in the royal apartments (her apartments, she has to remind herself), barefoot and wearing shorts and a white undershirt. She is theoretically reading her datapad, but mostly staring into space.

"It's supposed to be a really excellent suite."

Dryly, but his heart isn't into it.

She knows he's joking, but she still says grimly, "I damn well hope not."

"Yeah, well."

And he knows that it's stupid to ask, but, "Any news?"

[fighting_mad]

She looks down at the datapad again. "No. Nothing."

[eiattu_pride]

"Kriff."

Flatly.

[fighting_mad]

"I know." She runs a weary hand through her hair. "I know."

[eiattu_pride]

"I don't know what to do."

[fighting_mad]

"There's nothing to do," she says, "but trust Solo. And Tycho and Leia, too; a Rogue never says die and the princess is hardly helpless." Plourr nods once, determined because she has to be. "They'll be alright."

[eiattu_pride]

"Yeah."

And Rial tries to beleive that, he really does, but in the end-

-well, he's never been exactly an optimist.

It's not like Plourr is, either. She's trying, though, because otherwise, all she can do is sit and stew.

She looks back again. "Are you alright?"

[eiattu_pride]

"Yeah, I'm good. Why?"

[fighting_mad]

"You're quiet."

[eiattu_pride]

"And I'm not usually?"

[fighting_mad]

She turns around, sitting on her knees and resting her arms on the back of the sofa and her chin on one forearm, brown eyes on him. "Less so."

[eiattu_pride]

He glances away from her.

"I'm just worried."

[fighting_mad]

She doesn't look away. "They'll be alright, Rial," she says softly. "Solo knows what he's doing, and he has some pretty strong motivation, too."

[eiattu_pride]

"Yeah."

Bitter laugh, "But it's going to reflect pretty damn badly on Eiattu."

[fighting_mad]

"Not if they're rescued quickly. We made the excuses to the delegates, like Solo suggested. I'm not sure they were believed, but I don't believe anyone suspects that the princess was kidnapped."

She's quiet a moment.

"You going to stand there all night?"

[eiattu_pride]

"That's good, anyway."

Glances at her, and shrugs.

"Might as well."

[fighting_mad]

Plourr sets the datapad down and rises, slipping around the sofa to him and curling her fingers around his elbow. She tugs gently.

[eiattu_pride]

He doesn't move yet.

"Yes?"

[fighting_mad]

"C'mon. Sit down." A very faint, tired quirk of a smile up at him and her hand doesn't move from his arm. "You're making me nervous."

[eiattu_pride]

He sighs.

"Okay, then."

[fighting_mad]

She leads him over to the sofa and pulls him down, laying a hand on his shoulder for a second. Then she's up again. "I could use a drink. You want something?" She pads into the kitchen.

"Depends what kind of drink you're talking about."
