[OOM] Eiattu - Royal Chambers

It's the middle of summer on Eiattu, but it has been one of the rainiest months in the planet's history. The cavernous royal chambers are damp and drafty, and there is a decidedly grumpy princess sitting at a desk in the inner living area (the smaller, less formal one). She is surrounded by beautiful things; rich tapestries, a few paintings, sleek furniture with smooth lines, everything in warm shades of gold and cream and yellow. The glowlamps are turned down low, besides the one burning brightly on the desk, and she is adrift in a studious sea of datapads and flimsi scraps, bare feet planted firmly on the floor.

Of course, it would be a much more elegant scene if the aforementioned princess wasn't wrapped up in a huge comforter, her head in her hand. And if she weren't sneezing, blowing her nose, swearing, and occasionally flinging styluses in abject misery.

There is one Count Pernon poking his head around the door, dressed in casual clothes, eying her speculatively.

"Plourr?"

Plourr is startled. A stylus that was originally slated for death-by-wall goes flying in his direction.

"How did you get in here?" she asks, voice hoarse and even lower than usual. Oh, and did we mention the nasal? "What do my guards do, sit out there and braid each other's hair?"

"Perhaps I killed them."

He inches forward.

"Look, you should take a break. Sleep."

[fighting_mad]

"Or perhaps they suck at guardig." She opens a drawer to get a new stylus and slams it shut with a bang. "No," she says shortly (though it sounds more like 'doe'), tapping a datapad screen several times with the new stylus, reading. "There's too much to do."

[eiattu_pride]

"Nah, they just know who I am."

Sighs, moving toward her.

"I'll give you a hand. You're really not doing anyone a favour right now."

[fighting_mad]

She hunches further over the desk. "Don' need a hand," she says, and then she sneezes into a handful of tissues.

[eiattu_pride]

"Mm, I'm sure."

Slips around behind her, and gently grasps her shoulders, working his thumbs into tensed muscle.

"You look like you're capable of anything right now."

[fighting_mad]

She pulls her chair in closer to the desk, jerking away from him in the process. "I'm fine," she growls, viciously changing datapad screens.

"So you've said."

Count Zen is back in business. Moves forward, with her, resting his hands on her shoulders again.

"Am I going to have to pick you up again?"

[fighting_mad]

She sighs heavily, annoyed, pulling her feet up onto the seat and pulling the quilt tighter around herself. "No, b'cause I don' need to go anywhere. I'm fine, Rial."

[eiattu_pride]

"No, you're not."

Swiping at the datapads on the desk, coming around to face her.

"You're sick, and the sooner you sleep, the sooner you feel better. Yes?"

[fighting_mad]

She grabs ineffectually for the last one he picks up, but she misses by a klick.

She glares up at him with bleary, stubborn eyes. "No."

"Yes."

Sighs, rolls his eyes.

"Bed, maybe some food, sleep, and more sleep. Deal with it. Now c'mon."

[fighting_mad]

"I don't need t--" Her voice cracks.

Ow. Yelling hurts.

She lets out a hard breath and talks quieter. "What if I sit on the bed with the work?"

[eiattu_pride]

Rial thinks on this.

"No."

[fighting_mad]

Baleful stare.

[eiattu_pride]

"Come."

Tugs her hand.

[fighting_mad]

She would be a lot harder to haul out of the chair if she wasn't woozy. Alas, however, she is, though now that she's up, she isn't planning on going anywhere willingly.

As is probably evidenced by the blistering stream of hoarse cursing currently being sent in his direction.

"Lady, we've had this talk before. I'm fine if you think my mother was a mynock with no shame, but my father, I assure you, was not a neutered kitling."

Tugging her in the direction of the bedroom.

[fighting_mad]

Kriffing dizzyness. Kriffing weakness. She'd be able to hold her ground if it weren't for them. But, she can't; she goes along with Rial. And maybe it is good for both of them that her retort is swallowed by a fit of coughing.

There's a pause.

"Kriff this."

And he scoops her up and continues like nothings wrong.

[fighting_mad]

She's still coughing, otherwise, there would be shouting.

Instead, she punches him in the shoulder with something less than her usual force.

[eiattu_pride]

He snickers.

Very quietly, then hastily rearranges his features.

"Anyway. It'll be good for you to take a rest."

[fighting_mad]

She hit him. She hit him and he's laughing.

THAT'S NOT HOW IT'S SUPPOSED TO GO.

Plourr thrashes, massive comforter and all, and smacks him again. "Put me down!" she demands.

"No."

That one hurt a bit, mostly because she got the bridge of his nose.
