[OOM] Ciutric

The mission began normally.

"All Rogue Squadron personnel report to headquarters immediately. This is a Code Three recall of all Rogue Squadron personnel."

The amphitheater was full of Rogues, Golds, and Intel, and the mission was laid out, simple enough: get the commandos in, give them the chance to save Sate Pestage, and get them back out again. It gave Plourr a sour taste in her mouth; she would be perfectly content to let him rot in prison until Isard got to him. But the New Republic, and Princess Leia in particular, tended toward a sense of righteousness and Plourr, in turn, tended to follow its orders.

When things went wrong at first, they weren't even that wrong. An Impstar Deuce and a drag ship showed up, but-- they were Rogues. They do the impossible. They went to ground with the commandos and Pestage, camped out on the planet. Everyone got all paired off and moony-eyed while Plourr rolled her eyes.

Even Kapp Dendo fell prey to whatever the hell it was--the smell of impending doom, possibly?--and decided that this would be the opportune moment to ask her out. Plourr stared at him for a moment before pointing out, "You know I'm married, don't you?"

He hadn't.

He really hadn't.

She's very happily married, but still, she couldn't help but regret a little that something hadn't happened when they'd first met. "You should have asked back on Tatooine," she told him, and was rewarded by a rather inventive curse just before Tycho broke it up with the news that there was a squad of eyeballs approaching.

The Rogues got into the air and that was when everything went to hell over Ciutric.

"Rogue Two needs help. I can't shake this pilot."

"Hang right, Two, Three is coming."

"Two, you have smoke."

"Two is hit, engine failure..."

"Where's Two?! I can't see Two!"

"Five to base, we have a pilot down, repeat--"

"Can anyone see Two?"

Shavit, where's Ib, where's Ib?

"You got the last one, Nrin."

"Can anyone see Two? Do you copy, Ibtisam?"

"--Negative for hostiles; I don't have Two, either."

"We have the coordinates, Three. Rescue will find her."

"No beacon..."

"They'll find her, Nrin. Believe it."

They found her.

And hell but it hurt standing over her lifeless body, watching Nrin clutch his head and weep.
